“An Act Establishing a Safe Harbor for
Alternative Health Care Practitioners”
NO LONGER ACTIVE
Great news! Connecticut has introduced HB 6015, a bill to protect your access to services provided by practitioners of complementary and alternative health in Connecticut such as herbalists, traditional naturopaths, nutritional consultants, homeopaths, Reiki practitioners and many more. HB 6015 is sponsored by Representative Charles J. Ferraro and was assigned to the Joint Committee on Public Health on Jan. 28, 2021. Please thank Representative Ferraro and ask your own legislators to support the bill. And we also need your help to educate the members of the Public Health committee about this bill and convince them to vote yes on it when that time comes. Track the status of the Bill Here, and Take Action Here and Enter Your Address to send a message to your own legislators and to the Committee members to support HB 6015.
When passed, Connecticut will join eleven other states in protecting the thousands of wonderful complementary and alternative practitioners such as herbalists, homeopaths, traditional naturopaths, Ayurveda practitioners, energy healers, wellness consultants, and many others who are providing great services to health seekers in Connecticut. HB 6015 is the perfect solution for Connecticut’s long-term desire to have a law that protects access to its thousands of complementary and alternative health care practitioners.
What the Bill Does:
HB 6015 will protect consumer access to complementary and alternative health care practitioners by making it possible for practitioners to provide their services without fear of being charged with practice of medicine without a license as long as they avoid a list of prohibited acts in the bill such as the use of prescription drugs, or puncture of the skin, and as long as they give out proper disclosures.
